Lavender Essential Oil- Aceite Esencial De la Lavanda Botanical Names: Lavandula angustifolia; L. vera; L. officinalis

Country of Origin: Bulgaria, also cultivated now extensively in US and China. Method of Cultivation available include organic and Conventionally grown. Our favorite Lavender Essential Oil is Steam distilled to extract the incredible essence from the Flowers, leaves and stem and is a slightly pale yellow tint while yet highly transparent. It is considered to have a middle to top perfumery note. The aroma is considered floral yet herbaceous and sweet with fresh wood like undertones with a barely detectable hint of camphor.

This most popular soft and well rounded aroma offers a multitude of benefits and uses. It supports the balancing of moods and enhances mental clarity. Lavender has a long herbal heritage of use in skin & hair care. Lavender was an ancient medieval medicine and is still used today for many household applications.

A handy unique property of Lavender Essential Oil is that it is not merely energizing or relaxing, but smoothly balancing. The aroma of Lavender rejuvenates and renews a tired person. However the same Lavender may relax, soothe and slow down someone who is stressed or tense. Lavender is wonderful to have on hand to add balance and serenity to our increasingly chaotic lifestyles.

We use it directly on the burn (neat or undiluted) when it is a small area affected and of course seek treatment if necessary.

* Lifestyle Tip - Add some lavender at 10 drops per oz to your moisturizer lotion or cream for use after exposure to sun

* Lifestyle Tip – When traveling on airlines or ships be sure to pack your lavender oil in your briefcase or pocketbook. Airline cabins are notorious for unclean recycled air full of bacteria and virus. Once you are on board and seated apply Lavender oil by putting drops on your fingertips and working in to your fingers and hands. This will help protect you from the surfaces you will touch en route. Also dab some around your mouth and nose to help protect the air you are breathing. The mild dose will also help relax you and ease any tensions as you prepare for takeoff.

Lavender is considered to be naturally antimicrobial for bacteria, virus, and fungus.

Popular uses of Lavender include applying a few drops to a handkerchief and inhale. Add a teaspoon to a mister bottle with distilled water, shake and mist sparingly in your bedroom and pillow area for restful sleep. For a blissful bathing experience add 8 drops to a gently hot bath. The uses can include adding a few drops to your laundry rinse, mist in your drawers, add to the water reservoir of your steam iron for sweeter scented laundry.

A few drops on your hair brush or comb may invigorate hair and scalp. If adding to unscented body care or plant oils, use 6-12 drops per 1 oz. of product, less if you are making body care for children.

Lavender blends well with many other oils but is specially nice with citrus notes and other floral notes. Try adding a few drops of Vetiver or Patchouli for a warm base note. The addition of Clove Leaf or Cinnamon Leaf along with some citrus can create a somewhat spicy stimulating blend. Geranium, Cedarwood, Clary Sage and Pine are somewhat related in aromatic character and are also considered suitable blending partners.

We can not say enough about the uses and properties of lavender. It is a “must have” for the herbal remedy chest. This is the safest oil to use for babies and children, but of course should still be used properly diluted.

Consult with a health care professional before using if you have low blood pressure.
